As many Catholics are aware, praying for and burying the dead are both a spiritual and corporal work of mercy. With that aim, we wish to establish here at St. Bridget’s a team of servers for funeral liturgies.
Children in the parish, grades 3 and over are invited to participate in the liturgical services as altar servers.
The offertory team is a group of trained volunteers who meet on Sundays. If you can spare 1 –2 hours one Sunday a month please contact Tricia Welsby.
The Decorating Committee supports the Parish Liturgy by providing seasonal decorations and flowers. Their primary responsibilities include Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter in the Upper and Lower Church as well as the outside entrances. There are no scheduled meetings as the work usually occurs during the day, and dependent on the liturgical season, may be over several days from 1-5 hours. The group plans, organizes, constructs and removes decoration materials and requires moderate to heavy physical work. It is not necessary to commit to every day or season and we would appreciate any volunteers regardless of the time constraints or limitations.
This ministry is open to adult members of the parish who wish to assist with the distribution of Holy Communion at the Eucharist. A catechesis will be given to all those who volunteer for this ministry.
Our Faith Formation program supports parents in passing along their Catholic faith to their children. We work most intentionally with families of children kindergarten through 10th grade, offering classes, sacramental preparation, prayer, retreat, and service experiences. This ministry is a collaboration of the program leaders, volunteer catechists and families.
The Family Mass is held each Sunday at 9:30am. It provides the youth of the parish with age-appropriate catechesis and aims to serve the needs of younger parishioners with special seasonal, liturgical and sacramental celebrations. The children are full participants in this Mass and have the opportunity to be altar servers, lectors and help bring the gifts to the altar before the Eucharistic prayer.
The mission of the hospitality committee is to provide a welcoming environment for our community and encourage fellowship. The Hospitality Committee coordinates parish activities, special events and coffee & donuts.
Adult members of the parish can participate in the liturgical celebrations by proclaiming the Word of God in the scriptures and announcing the General Intercessions at Mass. A catechesis will be given to all those who qualify as lectors.
As “Ministers of Hospitality”, ushers welcome and assist parishioners at weekend liturgies and other special functions, as well as to assist with the offertory collections. Both men and women parishioners are invited to join this important ministry.
The Morning Mass Ministry is open to both men and women. For each celebration of the Mass the following persons are needed: Acolyte (Altar Server) whose function is to assist the celebrant, the Lector who proclaims the Word of God, and the Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, who assists with the distribution of the Eucharist. Those who participate are assigned to one of these ministries once every 4-8 weeks. This is a spiritually fulfilling ministry that enhances the celebration of the 9:00AM Morning Mass. Please join us.
At the request of our Archbishop, Cardinal Seán O’Malley, parishes in the Archdiocese have instituted Vocations Awareness Committees to encourage parishioners to pray earnestly for vocations throughout our Archdiocese and specifically from our own parish. As part of this program, St. Bridget Parish has begun a vocation chalice program. Each weekend at one of the Masses, a family or individual receives the Chalice into their home for a week to pray for vocations. Vocations are everyone’s business!
